American attitudes toward Israel have fallen quickly in five years, including among Christians.
Views of Israel, then and now. In Pew’s March 2021 survey, white evangelicals were the most likely to view the Israeli government favorably (68%), compared with Catholics (50%), white non-evangelical Protestants (51%) and Black Protestants (43%).
By Pew’s May 2026 survey, those numbers were 57% for white evangelicals, 34% for Catholics, 33% for white non-evangelicals and 30% for Black Protestants. Among all Americans, favorable views of the Israeli government fell from 47% in 2022 to 32%.
Pew’s March 2026 survey found that 60% of Americans view Israel unfavorably. The drop is steepest among younger people.
Even in 2021, support for Israel among young evangelicals had fallen from 75% to 34% between 2018 and 2021.
Psalm 105:8-11
“He [God] remembers His covenant forever, the word He ordained for a thousand generations—the covenant He made with Abraham, and the oath He swore to Isaac. He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant: “I will give you the land of Canaan as the portion of your inheritance.”
